It’s big news at the moment : the reappearance of wolves in the Alps, in Switzerland in particular, after a hundred years during which the species disappeared thanks to the hostility of the (human) inhabitants of the mountains.
So wolves have crossed the border from Italy to Switzerland. They have been seen once again in Swiss territory since 1995, when a single male was discovered in the Valois, and killed the following year.
The first female arrived in 2002, again in the Valois. Today, according to the experts, there are six wolves in Switzerland. The six animals came from Abruzzi in central-southern Italy – a distance of 600km.
