One of the largest international meetings with Telemark, the Free Heel Festival, is coming back to Livigno from April 1st to 8th 2006, as always with a lot of new features, encounters and meetings to make this show, created in 1995 with the name Skieda, and now in its 12th edition, a unique one. A new philosophy, international champions, intense moments of togetherness, competitions, exhibitions of everything Telemark: this is the Livigno Free Heel Festival 2006.

Seven days in which Little Tibet is filled with festive colours and many side events aimed at making this a unique and special encounter with sport and amusement in a week devoted to lovers of free-heel skiing.

The Free Heel Festival’s calendar is packed with events for dedicated fans and curious visitors who want to learn more and discover the fascinating gestures and ancient rituals of the immemorial art of skiing on Livigno’s immense snow-covered expanses.

Beyond the new logo, winner of the “An Idea for the Live Free Heel Festival” competition in which the public competed in an hour-long search for what would become the image identifying the show, this year the event is enhanced by a new, all-female spirit.

Femininity is the theme that will serve as a backdrop for the 2006 edition of this event that celebrates a sport in which “feminine” nature predominates in terminology and spirit: snow, the force of gravity, elegance, curvature, harmony, nature, gracefulness, Festivaliveness, beer (all feminine nouns in Italian). These are all words that express qualities like peace, serenity and optimism, and this is exactly the spirit that the Free Heel Festival wants to share and communicate with the public during the show.

Sarah Ferguson will also be present at the Free Heel Festival 2006, British Freestyle champion of 1978 and World Champion of the Word Masters Telemark Combined Championships of 1998, who will bring her “Skiing from the Inside” to Livigno for those who want to give expression to their potential and free themselves from tension, anxiety and incorrect posture. How? With skis on their feet, of course, thanks to yoga and stretching exercises taught during sessions with Sarah Ferguson (April 4th/6th and 7th).

Many famous Telemark names will be present in Little Tibet from April 1st to 8th, starting with Josh Murphy, the most important producer of films about Telemark on the world level, who, along with his unfailing travel buddies Max Mancini, Ty Dayberry, Lorenzo Worster, Ben Dolenc, Scott Schield, Mark Sanders and Sarah Clemenson, actors in his films, have been visiting Livigno regularly for several years, the set of their masterpiece “Unparalleled 4: The Lost Season”. This year as well the big names will be there and all the fans will get the chance to see their exhibitions, ski with them and drink in the essence of free-heel skiing.
