For the past six years the Fiemme Ski Jazz Festival has been one of the most eagerly awaited events of the winter, bringing to the Fiemme Valley some of the major artists in international jazz to perform in a unique festival on the snow. Fiemme Ski Jazz offers a week of music and skiing, with daily concerts up in the Alpine huts of the Fiemme Obereggen ski district, and outstanding evening performances and jam sessions in the theatres, halls and pubs down in the valley. Every day a different location is the backdrop for marvellous open air concerts alongside the ski runs at the foot of the amazing Dolomites, in an unrivalled natural setting. This year’s Fiemme Ski Jazz Festival, the sixth, promises to be full of new attractions, with some of the big names of the Italian and international jazz scenes: the Quartet of the American saxophonist Eric Alexander with Peter Washington on bass, Alvin Queen on drums and Dado Moroni on piano; “PROJETO 2003”, the group of the Brazilian Nelson Veras with Michael Rosen on saxes; pianist Luigi Bonafede; the Quartet of the Polish trumpeter Tomasz Stanko; the “Palo Alto” Quartet; and the groups led by saxophonists Ettore Martin and Guido Bombardieri. Then there’s trad jazz from the “Pegasus Brass Band” and the “Jambalaya Six”, as well as a host of young talent ready to improvise concerts and jam sessions.
